Truth can be a sticky wicket in memoir. It is essential to the craft but it can be hard to write.

On June 21 I presented on this topic for the Redwood Writer’s Club in Santa Rosa.

I looked at truth from several angles and showed new ways of handling it in memoir.  Topics included:

  • truth vs fact
  • exact truth and emotional truth
  • writing for yourself and writing for publication
  • methods for writing hard truths
  • revealing family secrets
  • liability and defamation

The video of my talk is here. I hope you learn a lot from it! To skip meeting technicals and start at the talk, forward the video to counter # 04:20.
